Abstract

drug-induced disease is self medication or poor adherence to the doctor’s prescription. The following types of druginduced diseases are found, such as hypoglycemic coma in case of excess insulin intake; mutagenic, oncogenic, teratogenic, embryo toxic, immune depressive activity, druginduced allergic diseases, drug addiction; Incompatibility between the drug combination, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetic interaction. The most common cause of drug-induced iatrogenecity is taking several drugs simultaneously (polypharmacy), especially in polymorbid, elderly patients, which significantly increases the risk of the intensity of side effects in case of interaction between drugs. Iatrigenic diseases can be prevented by using simple precautions such as adequate knowledge of indications for use of drugs, contraindications and side effects; restriction of self medication and reduction of using excessive drugs; implementation of qualified systematic training programs for doctors and other medical personnel; consulting with clinical pharmacologist at any stage of treatment, which will help any doctor of the specialty to minimize the complications caused by polypharmacy and the use of inappropriate drugs.
