Abstract

Dear Vasil
Thank you for sending me the 3rd issue of the Caucasus Journal of Health Sciences and Public Health for assessment. I have gone through the papers, and I am very impressed of the comprehensiveness of the presentation of all the different educational programs, well in accordance with the EU- Bologna process of higher education.

As to the PhD part, the assessment is of course slightly different from the way we do it. You have a very advanced assessment process of the research part during the PhD – education. I am impressed of the resources you put into bringing the quality to a high level. In our system that responsibility is on the supervisors shoulders, with a much higher risk of being rejected by the assessment committee (Board) before acceptance for dissertation. If the Board rejects the research part, they give advice of how to improve to be accepted for dissertation.

I have to admit that I like your way of doing it, but would be difficult in our setting due to the demand of academic resources.

In our system the research component assessed in the dissertation consist of 3 or more scientific articles (very rarely as a book) and a text (cover) bringing the articles together into overall messages / research findings. To be assessed by the Dissertation Assessing Board, 2 of the 3 articles have to be published in an international scientific journal and the 3 rd to be in the process of being accepted.

My conclusion is the papers in the 3rd issue of the Caucasus Journal of Health Sciences and Public Health are very interesting and are presenting an educational system according to and at a high level compared to any European higher education.
